En el marco del Día Internacional del Parlamentarismo, el Subdirector General y Representante Regional de la FAO para América Latina y el Caribe, Rene Orellana Halkyer, comparte el compromiso de la Organización con el fortalecimiento del trabajo parlamentario para avanzar hacia un mundo sin hambre. Para la FAO, los parlamentos desempeñan un papel fundamental en la construcción de sistemas agroalimentarios más eficientes, inclusivos, resilientes y sostenibles. Cuando el derecho a la alimentación se transforma en ley, las acciones trascienden los gobiernos y se convierten en políticas de Estado que benefician a las generaciones presentes y futuras. Desde hace más de quince años, la FAO acompaña al Frente Parlamentario contra el Hambre de América Latina y el Caribe, una red integrada por 25 parlamentos que ha impulsado más de un centenar de leyes en favor de la seguridad alimentaria y nutricional.
