In October 2011, Michael Stephens attended the "Libraries and Museums in an Era of Participatory Culture" session at the Salzburg Global Seminar. While there, he shared insights from the conference on his blog, "Tame the Web".

Dr. Stephens is an Assistant Professor in the School of Library and Information Science at San Jose State University.

Teacher Quality is Critical for Educational Reform by Dylan William

Dylan Wiliam, Emeritus Professor of Educational Assessment at the University of London, highlights the universal importance of teacher quality across all nations and government types.

The Salzburg Global Seminar, "Optimizing Talent: Closing Educational and Social Mobility Gaps Worldwide" (Dec. 2011), convened 63 participants from 24 countries. Their collective aim was to identify strategies for ensuring quality education is accessible to everyone.

Education is Everything, Education is Life! by Betty Iddrisu

Betty Mould Iddrisu, Ghana's Minister of Education, presented at the Salzburg Global Seminar in December 2011. Her talk, "Optimizing Talent: Closing Educational and Social Mobility Gaps Worldwide," highlighted education's critical importance to society.

She detailed Ghana's extensive reforms to provide quality education for all. Key initiatives include replacing approximately 5,000 "schools under trees" with permanent solutions, deploying quality teachers to rural areas, and ensuring equal educational opportunities for girls and boys.
