The FAO, through its AIM4Forests program, is assisting the Government of Guatemala in integrating Indigenous Peoples and local communities into the National Forest Monitoring System (SNMF). This initiative, funded by the United Kingdom, fosters dialogue for shared multi-level forest monitoring, utilizing cutting-edge technology and sustainable solutions.

Support in Guatemala focuses on three key areas: strengthening institutional capacities for REDD+ monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV); supporting the National Forest Inventory (NFI); and developing strategies to integrate local communities and Indigenous Peoples into the SNMF's multi-level forest monitoring framework.
