On August 31, 2026, the seminar for the presentation of the "Methodological Guide for Coastal Zoning with Strategic Environmental Assessment" took place. This guide was developed under the GEF Coastal Governance Project, implemented by FAO and executed by Chile's Ministry of Environment, Subsecretariat of Fisheries and Aquaculture, and National Fisheries and Aquaculture Service.

The event was held at the Adolfo Ibáñez University in Chile, attracting around 80 in-person attendees and 224 online participants from over 15 countries. The guide aims to enhance territorial planning processes along Chile's coast by integrating Strategic Environmental Assessment and Marine Spatial Planning principles to anticipate conflicts, harmonize uses, and support evidence-based decisions for conservation and productive development.
