Civil Society Consultation to the 39th FAO Regional Conference for Latin America and the Caribbean

The FAO RLC will host a Civil Society Organizations Consultation for Latin America and the Caribbean in Brasilia on January 28-29. Approximately 50 representatives from various organizations and social movements will contribute to FAO’s strategy.

Five spokespersons will be chosen to present and deliver the Civil Society Organizations’ Declaration to member countries at LARC 39.

Wildlife translocation brings new opportunities to Mucheni Conservancy in Zimbabwe #swmprogramme

Ninety wild animals, including impalas, kudus, and zebras, have been reintroduced into Zimbabwe’s Mucheni Community Conservancy. This translocation, part of the EU-funded Sustainable Wildlife Management (SWM) Programme, involved close collaboration with ZimParks, Binga Rural District Council, and local leaders.

The initiative aims to restore ecosystems damaged by drought, poaching, and habitat loss. Beyond boosting biodiversity, it will support community-led conservation, enhance climate resilience, and create future eco-tourism opportunities.

Georgian National Agricultural Olympiad

The National Agricultural Olympiad (NAO) assesses knowledge, identifies talent, and promotes achievements across vital agricultural disciplines, including agronomy, food technology, and veterinary medicine. It serves as Georgia's unique platform for professional knowledge evaluation and recognizing informal education, promoting the sector and raising youth awareness of agriculture and environmental protection.

Organized since 2021 by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) with support from Georgia's Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture (MEPA) and the Austrian Development Agency (ADA), the NAO's concept was developed by the Agricultural Development Association, with EIEC of MEPA as a partner.
