Rapid diagnosis, rapid response: African swine fever preparedness in Asia
January 13, 2026

African Swine Fever (ASF) poses a major threat to pig farming and food security. The FAO Emergency Centre for Transboundary Animal Diseases (ECTAD) in Asia and the Pacific collaborates with countries to strengthen animal health systems and improve ASF preparedness.

FAO projects equip laboratories and train staff for rapid diagnosis and response, ensuring early detection and effective control. These efforts protect livelihoods, safeguard food security, and build resilience. Discover more about the FAO RAP ECTAD ASF Regional Project outcomes: https://youtu.be/4UIxpeFZkjI
