Mujeres que transforman sus medios de vida en los Paisajes Andinos ecuatorianos

In Toacaso, Cotopaxi, Ecuador, the Asopragma association, supported by the Paisajes Andinos project, demonstrates the power of organization and female leadership. Initially facing resistance and challenges like low milk prices and limited financing, 46 families (35 led by women) embraced sustainable dairy practices. This led to increased milk production, improved incomes, and better product quality.

Beyond production, Asopragma established a successful community savings and credit fund, empowering women with access to finance for productive activities, education, and emergencies. This initiative, alongside a social fund, fosters economic autonomy and community solidarity. Asopragma's story highlights how local organization, female leadership, and community finance build resilient, inclusive, and sustainable Andean landscapes.

Earth Day: Our Planet is Blue

Our blue planet's oceans cover over two-thirds of its surface, connecting us all. Yet, these vital waters are increasingly under threat.

Oceana works to protect marine life, coastal communities, and our climate. This critical mission requires collective effort, as we cannot succeed alone.

The surprising thing I learned sailing solo around the world | Dame Ellen MacArthur

Solo sailor Ellen MacArthur's circumnavigation of the globe provided profound insights into the world's finite resources and interconnected cycles. Her journey highlighted how today's decisions directly impact future availability.

Based on this understanding, MacArthur proposes a bold new vision for economic systems. She advocates for a circular economy, moving away from linear models, where resources are continuously reused and regenerated, ensuring sustainability for generations to come.

Kids Take Action Against Ocean Plastic | Short Film Showcase

Plastic pollutants are pervasive, found from the deep sea to the Arctic ice pack. Researchers estimate that by 2050, oceans will contain more plastic—by weight—than fish. These degrading plastics leach toxic chemicals, posing a serious threat to marine life and humans.

Filmmaker Chris Hanson's short film highlights this issue, following 17 Hawaiian students as they study the impact of plastic pollution on their local beaches.
