This brings me to the article from the <a title=\"Media Research Center\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mediapost.com\/publications\/?fa=Articles.showArticle&amp;art_aid=159732\" target=\"_blank\">Center for Media Research<\/a> headlined &#8220;News Organizations Take It On the Chin&#8221; summarizing the Pew Research Center&#8217;s report. The bleak <a rel=\"attachment wp-att-744\" href=\"https:\/\/earthsayers.tv\/sustainabilityadvocate\/?attachment_id=744\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-744\" title=\"Screen shot 2011-10-04 at 5.11.02 PM\" src=\"https:\/\/earthsayers.tv\/sustainabilityadvocate\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/Screen-shot-2011-10-04-at-5.11.02-PM-150x150.png\" alt=\"Screen shot 2011-10-04 at 5.11.02 PM\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>findings include &#8220;negative opinions about the performance of news organizations now equal or surpass all-time highs on nine of 12 core measures the Pew Research Center has been tracking since 1985.\u00a0 More to the point, &#8220;Fully 66% say news stories often are inaccurate, 77% think that news organizations tend to favor one side, and 80% say news organizations are often influenced by powerful people and organizations.&#8221;\u00a0 And, back to the Internet thing, &#8220;Among those younger than 30, the internet far surpasses television as the main source for national and international news.&#8221; Oh Boy.<\/p>\n<p>Oh boy.<\/p>\n<p>A perfect time for schools of journalism to sponsor public  discussions, seminars and debates in partnership with the  citizen-powered media folks such as Amy Goodman and Michael Moore.\u00a0 Amy&#8217;s  interview of Michael on <a title=\"Michael Moore Interview \" href=\"http:\/\/www.democracynow.org\/2011\/9\/29\/michael_moore_man_interviewed_by_democracy#.ToujRU5Oiaw.twitter%20via%20@democracynow\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Democracy Now<\/em><\/a> is great as is her<a title=\"Amy Goodman\" href=\"http:\/\/www.democracynow.org\/2011\/10\/4\/press_freedom_victory_democracy_now_wins#.ToujgzygCK4.twitter%20via%20@democracynow\" target=\"_blank\"> speech<\/a> at the news conference she gave yesterday at Zuccotti Park in Lower Manhattan, where hundreds are camped out with the Occupy Wall Street protest.\u00a0 She  announced the landmark settlement stemming from her arrest (over forty\u00a0 journalists were arrested) in St. Paul during the Republican National  Convention.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Second in a post about user generated content (UGC) and the trend of incorporating UGC video into more traditional publishing channels such as the New York Times.
