{"id":2142,"date":"2016-07-29T13:20:39","date_gmt":"2016-07-29T20:20:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/earthsayers.tv\/sustainabilityadvocate\/?p=2142"},"modified":"2016-07-29T17:08:42","modified_gmt":"2016-07-30T00:08:42","slug":"picture-earth-right-now","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/earthsayers.tv\/sustainabilityadvocate\/?p=2142","title":{"rendered":"Picture Earth Right Now"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-2143\" src=\"https:\/\/earthsayers.tv\/sustainabilityadvocate\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Screen-Shot-2016-07-29-at-10.51.21-AM-150x150.png\" alt=\"Screen Shot 2016-07-29 at 10.51.21 AM\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/>I was reminded of this 1946 photograph of Earth,<a href=\"http:\/\/www.airspacemag.com\/space\/the-first-photo-from-space-13721411\/?no-ist\"> the first photo <\/a>from beyond the atmosphere when I curated one of the latest views of Earth, a NASA Goddard visualization entitled, \u00a0<em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.earthsayers.com\/special_collection\/One_Year_on_Earth_as_Seen_From_1_Million_Miles\/92\/26019\" target=\"_blank\">One Year on Earth as Seen from 1 Million Miles,<\/a>\u00a0(2:46)\u00a0<\/em>noting how far we&#8217;ve come from that grainy black and white photograph taken nearly 70 years ago<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-2146 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/earthsayers.tv\/sustainabilityadvocate\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/earth-pic-150x144.png\" alt=\"earth pic\" width=\"150\" height=\"144\" \/> to the breathtaking visualizations of today.<\/p>\n<p>We\u00a0are getting to know more about our Mother Earth from &#8220;out there&#8221; and <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-2144\" src=\"https:\/\/earthsayers.tv\/sustainabilityadvocate\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/heart-300x225.png\" alt=\"heart\" width=\"176\" height=\"132\" srcset=\"https:\/\/earthsayers.tv\/sustainabilityadvocate\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/heart-300x225.png 300w, https:\/\/earthsayers.tv\/sustainabilityadvocate\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/heart-624x468.png 624w, https:\/\/earthsayers.tv\/sustainabilityadvocate\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/heart.png 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 176px) 100vw, 176px\" \/>hopefully it translates to a better understanding and love &#8220;in here&#8221; nothing short of a change in consciousness, a move from head to heart guided by the Laws of Nature.<\/p>\n<p>There are many such visualizations on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCAY-SMFNfynqz1bdoaV8BeQ\" target=\"_blank\">NASA Goddard YouTube channel<\/a> and I have curated those I found most interesting and added them to EarthSayers.tv, the Voices of Sustainability including this video,\u00a0<em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.earthsayers.com\/special_collection\/The_Voice_of_our_Earth_HD3D\/39\/25859\" target=\"_blank\">The &#8216;Voice&#8217; of our Earth<\/a>. (4 minutes)<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;<\/em>Our Universe Is Not Silent~Although space is a vacuum, this does not mean there is <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-2150\" src=\"https:\/\/earthsayers.tv\/sustainabilityadvocate\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/voice-of-earth-150x150.png\" alt=\"voice of earth\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/>no sound in space. Sound does exist as electromagnetic vibrations.\u00a0The specially designed instruments on board the Voyager and other probes, picked up and recorded these vibrations, all within the range of human hearing (20-20,000 cycles per second).&#8221; \u00a0\u2013\u00a0NASA Space Recordings Of Earth,\u00a0Published on Aug 13, 2011.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The NASA Goddard visualizations also capture changes to our Earth that make it difficult if not impossible to\u00a0ignore the effects of global warming to include this recent video, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.earthsayers.com\/special_collection\/Earths_Long-Term_Warming_Trend_1880-2015\/92\/26021\" target=\"_blank\">Earth&#8217;s Long-term Warming Trend, 1880-2015<\/a>\u00a0(30 seconds) <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-2148\" src=\"https:\/\/earthsayers.tv\/sustainabilityadvocate\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/hot-map-150x150.png\" alt=\"hot map\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/>which\u00a0shows temperature changes from 1880 to 2015 as a rolling five-year average. Orange colors represent temperatures that are warmer than the 1951-80 baseline average, and blues represent temperatures cooler than the baseline.<\/p>\n<p>Many\u00a0of these visualizations are enormously popular on YouTube such as the <em>One Year on Earth<\/em> video mentioned above with over 1.6M views. The number of views for videos addressing global warming suggest our citizens, unlike some <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-2151 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/earthsayers.tv\/sustainabilityadvocate\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/people-studying-150x150.png\" alt=\"people studying\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/>elected officials, are active in the learning cycle.
