Over the last few months, and since I moved but an hour away from her,\u00a0 we have been emailing more frequently.\u00a0 And, yes, ASPA like other professional associations are increasingly turning their attention to sustainability <a rel=\"attachment wp-att-1490\" href=\"https:\/\/earthsayers.tv\/sustainabilityadvocate\/?attachment_id=1490\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-1490\" title=\"ppp\" src=\"https:\/\/earthsayers.tv\/sustainabilityadvocate\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/ppp-150x150.png\" alt=\"ppp\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>resulting in more opportunities to increase awareness and answer one of the first questions often asked, What is Sustainability?\u00a0 Over 60,000 searchers a month ask a variation of this question on Google and even more on the term, sustainable as in sustainable business. This out of the 1.2M overall searches per month on sustainability, thirty-seven percent from the United States.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1481\" style=\"width: 118px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-1481\" href=\"https:\/\/earthsayers.tv\/sustainabilityadvocate\/?attachment_id=1481\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1481\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-1481  \" title=\"stuarthart\" src=\"https:\/\/earthsayers.tv\/sustainabilityadvocate\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/stuarthart-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Dr. Stuart Hart\" width=\"108\" height=\"108\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1481\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dr. Stuart Hart<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Complicating matters is the issue of there being the opportunity to customize an answer based on individual interests and world views. Stuart Hart the Samuel C. Johnson Chair in Sustainable Global Enterprise at Cornell <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: none !important; margin: 0px !important;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.assoc-amazon.com\/e\/ir?t=earth06-20&amp;l=as2&amp;o=1&amp;a=0136134394\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" \/> University&#8217;s Johnson School, observes &#8220;Sustainability is tribal to some degree. \u0010There are many different factions. People come from different directions that all use the same term.&#8221;\u00a0 In other words, there is no one strict definition (<a title=\"Stuart Hart\" href=\"http:\/\/www.earthsayers.com\/special_collection\/Sustainability_Has_Many_Definitions_by_Stuart_Hart\/42\/22134\" target=\"_blank\">video quote 1:37<\/a>).\u00a0 This is particularly nettlesome as some folks use this lack of precision &#8220;as an easy way to set sustainability\u00a0 aside.&#8221;  It is for this reason that I am revisiting some definitions and also citing a recently posted video from the folks at \u0010Eastman Chemical Company.\u00a0 You may find these quotes by sustainability leaders\u00a0 helpful to reference in conversations.
