Heidi presented at the Fourth Annual Conference on Business and Sustainability sponsored by The Center for Global Leadership in Sustainability at the School of Business Administration in Portland State University, Portland, Oregon. Ms. McCloskey argues strongly for collaborating for innovation and thinking beyond the borders of competition.

Sustainability: Economist, Arthur Brooks talks about culture from his view as American Enterprise Institute President. He argues in his book, The Battle: How the Fight between Free Enterprise and Big Government Will Shape America's Future, that "most Americans don't see free enterprise as just an economic matter, they see it as kind of a lifestyle issue, they see it as the bedrock of American culture and that's about 70 percent of the population."

Glenn Jampol, Presidente, Cámara Nacional de Ecoturismo (CANAECO), talks about his journey from being a student at Berkeley to arriving in Costa Rica and becoming involved in sustainability and environmental stewardship as the founder of the first "Boutique" hotel in Santa Bárbara de Heredia, Costa Rica. Based on the best sustainable standards of the day, Finca Rosa Blanca Coffee Plantation and Inn, is now considered "one of the best hotels in the world," according to the New York Times and Conde Naste Traveler. The hotel also has 35 acres of certified shade grown organic coffee, which is grown, picked, and roasted on premises.

Second-generation conservationist, Hunter McIntosh, VP of the Alaskan-based The Boat Company talks about being raised in the environmental community.
