Building on Generation Connect’s participation in the LDC5 Youth Forum and Youth Track in Qatar, this session aims to highlight role of young people at the forefront of SDG implementation and digital transformation in LDCs. Using SDG 9 [Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure] as a thematic focus, young speakers discuss how can we ensure an enabling digital environment and meaningful connectivity for youth in LDCs, towards real opportunities to lead, thrive and prosper in our shared digital future.

While IPCC risk assessments and emission projections can help us understand climate change, they don’t exactly inspire the imagination or provoke a personal response to the crisis. The solution? A growing league of storytellers who use photographs, films and the human experience to breathe life into the cerebral science of anthropogenic climate change. Images can tap into our senses and break down barriers that statistics cannot—how far can they go to inspire a global climate response?

Jaime Latorre, a 15-year-old climate activist, and Eagle Scout candidate urges everyone to exercise personal leadership as he shares his views about the importance of youth organizations that reinforce the value of nature. Jaime, grade 9, plans to create an insect farm and butterfly haven for his Eagle Scout project. He is an outdoorsman who cares deeply for the conservation of the natural world. His TEDx talk focuses on youth activism and how organizations, such as the Boy Scouts, support participatory communities. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at TEDx.

In this passionate call to action, 16-year-old climate activist Greta Thunberg explains why, in August 2018, she walked out of school and organized a strike to raise awareness of global warming, protesting outside the Swedish parliament and grabbing the world's attention. "The climate crisis has already been solved. We already have all the facts and solutions," Thunberg says. "All we have to do is to wake up and change."

2017 Brower Youth Awards Speech by Charlie Jiang talks about "doing good for the world," the world beyond his bubble, beyond his hometown, Chicago. 

Tipi Tales are adventures in story and song. Elizabeth, Junior, Russell and Sam play, laugh and grow together in the forest surrounding the home of their great-grandparents. Each story centers around the daily challenges faced by the cousins as they seek to understand each other and the world around them.

The children learn the tools of life from enchanting forest animals who embody the seven ancient aboriginal laws.

May 8, 2017 Our Children’s Trust, which is suing the federal government over its climate policies on behalf of twenty-one young people. The lawsuit asks the federal government to prepare a science-based national climate recovery plan that will bring carbon dioxide to below 350 parts per million by the year 2100. And results have been encouraging: a preliminary ruling in November states that the U.S. Constitution guarantees the right to a climate system capable of sustaining human life. Victoria Barrett is one of the plaintiffs.
